Adrian Meronk to Leave LIV Golf Following Jon Rahm's Shock Exit

Why Meronk Is Reconsidering His Loyalty to LIV Golf

Polish golfer Adrian Meronk is set to depart LIV Golf after just one season, according to recent reports. The decision comes shortly after he secured his fifth DP World Tour victory at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on October 4, 2026. Meronk, who joined the Saudi-backed league amid lucrative offers, is now reevaluating his professional future following Jon Rahm’s unexpected departure from the circuit.

Meronk reportedly received a $10 million signing bonus simply for joining LIV Golf, a figure that underscored the league’s aggressive financial strategy to attract top talent. Despite the substantial payout, his recent major win on the DP World Tour appears to have shifted his priorities. Sources indicate that the prestige and consistency of traditional tour events now hold greater appeal than the guaranteed money offered by LIV.

What Does This Mean for LIV Golf’s Future Appeal?

The Alfred Dunhill Links victory marked Meronk’s fifth triumph on the DP World Tour, reinforcing his standing as one of Europe’s most consistent performers. His performance in Scotland showcased a return to form that may have reminded him of the competitive fulfillment found outside LIV’s team-based format. Insiders suggest that the lack of world ranking points and limited major championship access have become growing concerns for players like Meronk, especially after achieving elite success elsewhere.

Meronk’s potential exit raises questions about the long-term viability of LIV Golf’s financial model. While the league continues to offer unprecedented upfront payments, retaining players requires more than just money—it demands competitive credibility and a clear path to golf’s highest honors. Rahm’s departure, combined with Meronk’s reported reconsideration, signals a possible trend where even highly compensated athletes seek legitimacy beyond the league’s financial incentives.

Did Adrian Meronk win any LIV Golf events during his tenure? Meronk did not win an individual LIV Golf event during his time with the league, though he participated in multiple team competitions as part of Cleeks GC.
