The lineup underscores the growing importance of midweek and Saturday non-conference games in shaping early-season momentum for participating programs.

What Are the Key Matchups

Coastal Carolina’s coaching staff has emphasized the need for consistency in execution, particularly in special teams and third-down conversions, ahead of the road test. Delaware’s head coach noted in a recent press conference that the team is focusing on ball security and defensive discipline to capitalize on the home-field advantage. Both squads view this game as a critical opportunity to build confidence before entering conference play.

The Coastal Carolina passing attack will face a Delaware secondary that has allowed fewer than 200 yards per game through the air this season. Conversely, Delaware’s rushing offense will test a Coastal Carolina defensive line that has shown improvement in stopping the run over the last two weeks. Turnover margin and time of possession could prove decisive in determining the outcome of this closely contested early-season battle.
